Bachelor in Science Degree Program

 

Social Services - Family Development

 

The Bachelor of Science degree in Social Services includes the Head Start NEW! Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework, performance standards and regulations as the core of the family development curriculum in addition to all the specialized courses.  This two year program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain supportive relationships with families they assist by using holistic approaches to improving the effectiveness, quality and outcomes of job performances.  Current Head Start employment is required.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

5.	Support and advocate family engagement in transitions

Program Information

 

Program Length

All courses are five weeks in length, three credits unless specified otherwise. HS University students are Head Start working adults who can earn their degrees at their own pace and on their own schedule.  Most students attend part-time, and the normal time to complete this program is 4.5 years.

 

Program Cost

Cost information for HS University program is available at http://www.hsuniversity.org/cost_fees.html.  The tuition and fees for the entire program, at current tuition rates, are $47.500.  The total estimated cost for books and supplies for the entire program is $6,000.

 

For those HR managers setting up professional development budgets, a student should plan for approximately $11,000.00 per year for individual professional development/degree cost.
