Course
Description: This 5 day in-depth
health credentialing course is designed to help health
services staff coordinate, plan, implement and organize
comprehensive health services for children and families in
Head Start. Participants will learn to collect and monitor
health services data and maintain files for compliance. You
will also learn how to distribute specialized health
reports and perform health performance standard
requirements. As part of the credentialing process, you
will learn how to coordinate, prepare, organize and assist
in federal health compliance issues such as the collection of
health information for the Program Information Report and
the annual Self-Assessment. Best practice and instruction
will be given on how to develop and implement health service
area plans and how to work with your Disability specialist
to ensure the timely referrals of children with special
needs. This course concentrates on the health data
collection, reporting and monitoring processes.
Participants are introduced to methodology for obtaining
various health information including medical
history, nutrition, immunizations, dental records
and other medical needs of children and families. Prerequisites: None

This course is designed for Health Coordinators, Family Workers,

are responsible for managing a supportive parent
